Poolside Sarong
Did you know that sarongs are quickly becoming one of the most essential fashion accessories? Why is this you ask? Simply, sarongs are amazing. They travel well, look great, feel fantastic and hide flaws like nobody’s business. In a nut shell, sarongs provide convenience, fashion and confidence.
Sarongs are easy to wear and very sexy, no doubt about it. So learn to tie your sarong in the best way possible. You want to look great and you don’t want it falling off (so-long sarong!) while your walking down the street (that would be so-wrong). A sarong tie is a good idea too. Sarong ties give you a little extra hold and security.
How to Tie a Sarong
There are so many uses for sarongs. They can be used as a short skirt or shawl on cool windy days. Many people use them as curtains, baby slings, scarves, shawls, wall hangings, table covers, bathing suit cover up and anything else you can dream of!
Sarongs are rectangular shaped, so you have the option of wearing your sarong in a variety of ways.
Here is an example of how to Tie Your Sarong in a “Long Skirt”:
- Wrap the sarong around your body (waist, hips, chest)
- Grab two corners of the sarong and create a “tie” by pulling the ends vertically, then knot the tie and pull the ends horizontally (knot again to secure).
- Fluff out the tie to make sure that the right side of the fabric shows and that the knot looks good.
- The tie can be at the front, back, or side (ends may be tucked underneath).
Adjusting The Length
Adjusting the length is as simple as folding the sarong in half for desired length, then tie.
Ideas For Wearing A Sarong
Wear Your Sarong As A Skirt:

- You may wear the sarong over a simple plain tank dress to create a beautiful “chic” look.
Wear Your Sarong As A Dress or Top:
